Cancer Information Service:
1-800-4-CANCERThe Cancer Information Service (CIS), a national information and education network, is a free public service of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Nation's primary agency for cancer research. This award-winning program is the source of the latest, most accurate cancer information for patients, their families, the general public, and health care professionals, relayed by trained professionals to translate the scientific information into understandable language. The CIS also serves as a resource for education and outreach to minority audiences and people with limited access to health care information or services.

American Cancer Society:
Provides information on specific cancers, treatments, symptoms, methods of prevention, plus a database that explains the uses and side effects of many prescription drugs. Also included on this site is a listing of dozens of brochures and other published materials available for ordering.

CancerNet:
This site, a service of the National Cancer Institute, provides very comprehensive information, spanning issues like statistics, treatment, prevention, clinical trials, coping methods, complications and support, arranged by cancer type.

The Texas Cancer Data Center (TCDC):
Provides information on health professionals, health facilities, demographics and statistics, and community resources via the Internet at no charge. TCDC is an information service, funded by the Texas Cancer Council, dedicated to empowering Texans with the knowledge needed to reduce the human and economic impact of cancer.

Healthfinder:
Free gateway to reliable consumer health and human services information developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Healthfinder® can lead you to selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as the government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that produce reliable information for the public.
